There are many colors of winter, including pink snow even, but the one most think of is simply the color white. White ... in soft woolens and cashmeres, pearls, pastillage, the furs of polar bears and ermine, beveled glass caught in just the right light, the cold glint of silver and white gold, and those little silver dragées used in cake decorating. Here, from the Artisan Crafts gallery, is a selection highlighting artisan works in white and off-white, but also in the delicately golden color of champagne, the drink many raise to bring in the New Year. Be forewarned though - this feature starts out very heavy on the bling!

Artist's Comments
I'm taking my first Illustration class this semester and this was our first mini project. We were supposed to experiment with different techniques on the subject of an animal/species of our choice.
I'll explain the techniques used in each one.
- Top left: I scratched the image out of clayboard that I inked over so it would be black. I couldn't find the already black clayboard. >.>
- Top center: The cat was drawn with illustration pens, scanned, then I drew in a background digitally.
- Top right: This was done with a pen with a brush tip. White dots on top were digitally added.
- Bottom Left: The cheetah in the foreground was drawn with illustration pens, scanned then the other two cheetahs and white marks were digitally added.
- Bottom center: Completely digital.
- Bottom right: Done with a Japanese calligraphy brush and india ink.
It was a really fun, easy and quick project for me. Very refreshing compared to the assignments that usually take me weeks or a month to complete. :3
